KUALA LUMPUR, March 30, 2022 (Bernama) – Malaysian defence industry player, Advanced Defence Systems Sdn Bhd (ADS) plans to collaborate with a French arms manufacturer to widen the scope of artillery systems in Malaysia.
Yesterday, the company had inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nexter Systems (Nexter), a French government-owned weapon manufacturer to enhance the innovation of artillery systems for the Malaysian Armed Forces through Nexter's advanced services and technologies.
Under the MOU, Nexter's Caesar 155mm 52 calibre Wheeled Light Self-Propelled System (Caesar), will be assembled at ADS Assembly Plant in Segamat, Johor. In a joint statement today, ADS said it has envisioned an intensive economic development in Malaysia's artillery industry with such a transfer of technology.
The MOU was signed by ADS Business Development Director, Lt Col Shane Chin (R), while Nexter was represented by its Asia Pacific Vice-President, Mr Amaury de Poncins.
CAESAR combines the high mobility of a truck with the power of a 155mm 52 calibre gun and it is the only long-range proven 52 calibre in the world. In terms of mobility, CAESAR of supporting all types of motorised, mechanised or armoured units, including rapid deployment forces.
